How your energy is drained

As said in a previous article about perception, we require energy in order to perceive, and to expand our perception. In this article, I am going to talk more about how our energy is drained.

The magic of children

I absolutely love spending time with small children, just watching and observing them. They are completely spontaneous, magical and filled to the brim with energy, that pure life force. It's amazing how quickly children can heal themselves after they fall down stairs or injure themselves in some way. Small infants, under the age of 1 year, and perhaps even 2, are able to perceive and see things which adolescents and adults cannot. Often I have seen babies pull the funniest faces when looking at someone. Now and then I see what they see, and I pull a funny face too. Sometimes a small child would appear to spot something for a moment, perhaps movement in a room, or hear a voice or a noise, but adults would not perceive the same, and most of the time not even be conscious of it. How about imaginary friends. Do you recall ever having any as a child? Perhaps they were and are more real then you thought.

While growing up, we soon lose this ability of perception that small infants posses, as well as their seemingly endless vitality. Slowly the process begins in which we are taught about life, and we are handed various ideas and beliefs about ourselves and life and the world. Growing older, we get introduced to the stresses and pressures of every day life, among a myriad of other things that happens during this time with us, to us and for us. And systematically our energy becomes drained by, trapped by and invested into emotions, past events, stress, worries, guilt, shame, fears of various kinds, sexuality, religions and ideologies, survival, materialism, relationships, our self image, thoughts - naming only very few - and a myriad of other things. And so the energy that we were supposed to use to live life are channelled, trapped, drained and invested into the mundane, the boring, the repetitive, the useless.

This leaves the ordinary man and woman with very little energy available for perception, never mind physical, emotional and mental energy. Naturally aspects like creative expression, inspirations and aspirations, celebration, curiosity and adventure, spontaneity, our (create)ive capacity and even health and so on becomes greatly diminished, and in some cases entirely latent (but never absent or 'dead'). I can even go on to say that because most people are so drained, it becomes easier not to think for themselves, and the path of least resistance is to simply accept the ideas and views of the world imposed upon them as the truth.

Here a paradox arises. Most of the things that drains and traps your energy, you cannot perceive, as you do not have to energy required to perceive those things! This is a most important concept to consider, one which I almost overlooked. The more energy is reclaimed, the more you are able to spot the things that is keeping you drained.

In order to make a start on the process of reclaiming energy, the simplest place to make a start is by observing your thoughts, and being here, which you can read more about here.
